Does anybody know how to do question 12 on page 52? If you do, please write back.

Bigredskinsfan27,
On #12, you have tolist 8 numbers that have a mean of 8. A mean is all the items added up and divided by the number of items. The number of items= 8 so to fin the mean you calculate: x/8=8.Multiplication can undone adition so you can say that as 8*8= x, then x=64. With this you now know that the total of the items must add up to 64. You also have to make sure the items have a m.a.d. of 0.5. To find the m.a.d you are calculating x/8=0.5 (when x is the sum of of the absolute deviation for each item) or 8*0.5=x, x=4. so your items must add up to 64 and their absolute deviations must add up to 4.

Dear Mrs. Burke,
I'm having a bit of trouble with the lesson master for 1-7. M.A.D is getting me pretty badly. Can I skip the questions I don't understand and get help tomorrow before class?

Well, the quiz was okay, although I could have done better. But now that I think about it I did alot better than I thought I did. I can't believe one of the mistakes I made though. How much are the corrections going to be worth?

In response to the question about how much test corrections are worth: Priceless! Why? You need to make corrections so that you have the opportunity to think more deeply about a question and how you misunderstood or miscalculated on the quiz. I do not change your grade. You will become a better student and that is the reward.
