On to Chapter 9!

As we agreed, the Chapter 8 test will take place on Thursday, May 10. The lowest grade on yesterday's quiz was 12/14 and seven of you earned perfect scores! Good job!

You will be learning about quadratic equations beginning on Monday. There is a wonderful, very useful formula, the quadratic formula, that you will memorize and continue to use throughout high school.

As I stated in class yesterday, any student who has an A average (minimum numerical average = 90) does not have to take any more quizzes or tests for a grade. EXCEPTION: THE FINAL EXAM! I will correct your quizzes and tests but the score does not have to be added into your average.

Please study this weekend for Thursday's test. You will be working hard next week on quadratics.

Due Monday:

Complete the Chapter 8 Progress Self-Test. Correct it and have your questions ready.

Hi Mrs. Burke,
I'm not complaining, but please don't make us work too hard next week. The school year's almost over!
I'm guessing this was the best quiz of the year. Good job everybody!

Hi Mrs. Burke,
today I took the AHC placement test. It was REALLY easy. I was able to answer all the questions except for 1. The algebra I test will be sometime in the next couple of weeks. I got a packet to do over the summer and I finished it in about 20 minutes. It was REALLY easy!
Thanks for teaching us so well!
See you Monday!

Hi Mrs. Burke,
I went to a camp last summer (not a math camp)and a kid was trying to teach me about quadratics. I didn't understand him at all! :) (yes, wiesej, the guy with the cool "fern") Hopefully I will understand what he was talking about soon! Great job on the quizzes everyone!

Hi Mrs. Burke,
I got the letter from GV today and I was placed in Algebra I. Oh well, I guess that was expected. At least math will be pretty easy next year!
Have a nice weekend!

Hi Mrs. Burke,
I took the HC placement test on Saturday and it was the Algebra test-so if you are in Algebra in eigth grade you take it. It was ok. There were many problems that we learned this year and I also got to use my calculator on problems for help, like graphing. However, I am a little dissapointed now that you mention the quadratic formula because there was one problem that said use the quadratic formula to answer the following and I had no idea what the formula was!! Too bad we are just now getting to it.
