Pay attention to detail...
I hope you will pay closer attention to the details of algebra, as we discussed in class today. Tonight's homework has you writing equations and inequalities and solving them using algebraic properties. The easy part is solving. Reading a problem, determining relationships, and writing the the relationship using mathematical symbols is a skill that is required of many professionals.
Today's assignment:
1. Finish Lesson 5-3. Be sure to show all work.
2. Begin working on improving your mastery of Chapter 4 using the second test form. This is due on Monday.
3. Have your test signed by your parent(s).

Hi Mrs. Burke,
I finished my math, I just need to redo the questions I got wrong on the test. Do you want us to write the correct answer and the reason why we got the question wrong for all our incorrect answers on the test like we usually do? Or should we simply re-answer the questions we got wrong on the new test?
See you Monday!

Hi Mrs. Burke,
I made some really stupid mistakes on the test and I will try my best not to make them again!
I finished my math homework, however I didn't understand number 9. Can we go over it in class on Monday?

I figured out what my equation should have been for the pu problem (if I had remembered to include the variable) and why it worked:
125 = 2/5d
where d = distance gained on hare
This works because the dog is 50pu away from the rabbit when the chase starts (dog is 0 pu away from starting line), but at 125 pu past the starting line, the dog is 30 pu away from the hare. So we know that it took 125 pu for the dog to get 20 pu closer, and therefore we know the dog's rate of travel is 125 pu / 20 pu closer.
Therefore, 125 pu = 2/5 closer to rabbit, or 40%
when you solve, the result is
312.5 = 1, or 312.5 = 100%
