What's Up?

You should have all of Lesson 3-1 and 3-2 finished for tomorrow. You also need to return your signed test.

I won't be seeing you tomorrow as I have a severe case of bronchitis or possibly pneumonia. I expect you to put in the same effort in class that you usually do.

Please explain to your parents that I will miss them on Thursday but will try for Friday. Otherwise, I can meet with them next week.

I thought more about the two problems that I gave you. The first one, about the digits 2, 0, 0, and 6, didn't quite fit the factorial model because two of the digits were the same. If you recognized the the digit in first place had to be either 2 or 6, then there are three places available for the remaining three digits. So the final answer is (B)6.
You also could make a list or a tree diagram. Do not discard these methods as being less mathematical.

The second one has the answer (D) 58. The sum of all five numbers is 5 X 54 = 270. The sum of the first two is 2 X 48 = 96, leaving 174 for the sum of the last three numbers. Divide 174 by three to get 58.

You will have an AMC 8 practice test over the weekend and need to put in some time.
