Two-Dimensional Slides

Another name for a two dimensional slide is translation. Translations are one kind of transformation. Reflections and rotations are two others of which you are familiar. If you were in fourth grade at TWA, you studied reflections.

You are learning how to translate a shape on a coordinate grid. Translations are the easiest type of transformation to describe using algebra. Pay careful attention to the algebraic description of the two-dimensional slides.

Today's Assignments:

1. Finish reading Lesson 3-4 and complete Covering the Reading.
2. Practice some problems for the AMC 8. Do not forget your pencils!

Hi Mrs. Burke!
I'm so glad you're feeling better! I feel pretty confident with the AMC math test, I studied for about an hour with my Dad last night. Of cours I had to guess for many of them, but of the ones I answered, I think I did my best.
See you tomorrow!

Hi Mrs. Burke,
I think I did very well on the questions that I got to...although I had to guess on quite a few!
I think translations are cool. I also liked sets so hopefully this will be as enjoyable as sets.
I'm glad you're feeling better!!!

In the new chapter now that we're solving equations with addition and multiplication, it seems that there are so many more steps.

Hi Mrs. Burke,
I finished my homework for tomorrow and was wondering for when you are planning the next quiz. I know there's one coming up because we usually have one for the first four lessons and then one for the next three or so and then an assessment for the WHOLE chapter.
Chapter 3, so far, is REALLY easy! It's easy to catch on! I have discovered that if there's a problem that looks impossible to do, then you just have to start working on it. Chances are, that it'll work!
I' m glad you're feeling better and hope that the heimlich maneuver isn't ever going to be necessary in math class!!!!! :)
