Today was a very good class. I hope you understood the meaning of the word term. You will learn a more mathematically correct definition as we continue in algebra.

I am pleased that you all are having success writing a comment. Next week you will be asked to use math terminology in your comments.

Your graphing calculator skills should be improving . You should all have the list of perfect squares in a very accessible location. How many do you really have to memorize? If your comment to this question is mathematically correct, it will count as your comment for next week. Comments are considered a part of your homework, at least for now.

I have corrected your quizzes and will pass them back tomorrow. To quote Geoffrey F. Fisher: When you aim for perfection, you discover it's a moving target. The target is moving fast right now in algebra.

Today's Assignments:
1. Finish the questions in Lesson 1-5
2. Read Lesson 1-6 and answer the questions in Covering the Reading.
3. Begin memorizing the first twenty perfect squares.

Hey Mrs. Burke!
I have already beagn studying the first twenty square roots; I really only need to memorize eight more perfect squares, which for some of them I have almost memorized.
I never used to like math, but now so far I think it is challenging and a lot of fun.
See you tomorrow!

P.S. I like your quote at the end, though it isn't a good sign.

Hey Mrs. Burke,
I only have to memorize 4 more squares/square roots to make sure I really know them. I know them if I really think about it for about 10 seconds. Does that count as memorized?
ams said previously that the quote at the end wasn't a good sign. If the target is moving fast, does that mean we are moving along in class well, or does it mean we still need time to "aim" more closely to our target?

I will need to memorize the perfect squares of numbers 0 through 10 only. I am not going to say why on your blog, but I will tell you tomorrow. :)

Hi Mrs. Burke,
When I was at SSAT Prep my teacher showed me method for finding the square roots of the first twenty squares.

I think that there is an algorithm for memorizing the first 20 perfect squares, but I am not quite sure of it.
