No one has posted the homework yet so I will ask my question here. For question 14a in section 3.8 the wording confuses me a little bit. When it asks the total dividends payed to the stockholders does it mean what amount of 25,400 does Mrs. Dendrum get and what amount does Mr. Dendrum get seperate from each other or what amount the other stockholders and the Dendrums will collect together?

I think it means the total amount that the stockholders receive, including the amount the Dendrum's get. So you have to figure out the total by using the information that the Dendrum's received 3/8 and 1/4 of the total amount.

Sarah, the Dendrums collect 5/8 of the total amount of money of all the stock holders. The questions is asking how much money all the stock holders make so they are looking for 8/8. Does this help?

for 4 the problem has ";4" what are you suppose to do with the 4?

The 4 is the number you multiply both sides of the inequality by.
