Can anyone explain how to express a set in roster form and in set-builder notation like in problems 8 and 9 on covering the ideas?? i read about it in the textbook but i still dont understand it
Yeah set builder has me confused too. I looked it up and all I got was this. set-builder notation is a mathematical notation for describing a set by stating the properties that its members must satisfy. Forming sets in this manner is also known as set comprehension, set abstraction or as defining a set's intension.
let's use the idea of "describing a set by stating the properties that its members must satisfy."
remember from last year that in this context properties is synonymous with characteristics. so, think about the characteristics of members in a set and how you might describe them...
it might help to consider a set in roster form and make some observations.
i'll be at school at 8a for further clarification.
