Did You Really Think You Didn't Have Homework?
Not with a test on Thursday! Did anyone think that Lesson 3-8, CTI might be an assignment? If you said yes to this question, you are right. In addition, you need to finish up Review in Lesson 3-7. You may stop work after one hour but if it takes you an hour to do this homework, you may need to rethink if you are using efficient methods.
EXTRA CREDIT:
You may submit the solution to one of these questions for extra credit on the Chapter 3 test. The test contains 18 questions. You must submit before you take the test.
1. Define the operation @ in this way: If A and B are any integers, then A @ B = A - B +1. For example,
9 @ 3 = 9 - 3 +1
a. Find 3 @ (2 @ 4).
b. Does 3 @ (2 @ 4) = (3 @ 2) @ 4?
c. Find a number E so that E @ (5 @ E) = 1
2. Gina invented a new operation, #, defined, for each counting number n, in this way:
n# = n x (n - 1) / (n - 2) x(n - 3) / (n - 4) x ... x 1
For example, 7# = 7 x 6 / 5 x 4 / 3 x 2 /1, and
8# = 8 x 7 / 6 x 5 / 4 x 3 / 2 x 1 ( Define 1# to equal 1.)
a. Compute (100#)(99#).
b. Compute (100#)/(98#).

Can we do both of the extra credit questions for twice the extra credit, or are we limited to just one?
You may choose only one question.
